Omar, the competition is open to anyone, not just Nevada residents. Yes, 11 a.m. for bread presentation. This was not an issue for competitors last year. However, if you need to arrive earlier than 8 a.m. to set up and get started, you may do so.

Omar, the store manager Eric will be there 7 a.m. if you want to get started that early. Call him at (775) 828-1500 to make arrangements.

The two-hour time frame for bread does limit what people can effectively turn in. Yeast breads aren’t really a good option with that limitation. If the bread turn-in was moved to last, it would allow more creativity and maybe encourage a broader array of breads to be submitted. This wouldn’t extend the time frames and we could still wrap up cooking by 1PM. It would just allow time for the rises required from yeast breads.

Thanks for the feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve our cook-off. There are a couple of things we can do. Eric, the store manager, will be there by 7 a.m. so we can move set-up earlier to that time to allow contestants more time to cook. We can also move the turn-in time for breads to 1 p.m. Like last year, we'll be flexible to accept early turn-ins.

So, here is the schedule that I propose. Main dishes due by noon and breads and desserts due by 1 p.m. Will that work or would you prefer desserts by 11 a.m.?

I think that is a great idea. I like the option for both desserts and breads being turned in at 1.

Barb and I will be teaming up for this years Nev. State Championship. We hope to represent well. :-)
